The sounds of the valves closing is different in an abnormal valve than in a normal valve. You can localize which valve it is by the sound and where you hear it. It just takes practice listening to heart tones.

Cause...it is hard to palpate through the chest wall?

Auscultation detects valvular abnormalities more accurately than what other technique, exactly? Kinda need to know that to be able to tell you why auscultation is superior.

abnormalities of heart valves are best detected by an echocardiogram because it gives you the pressures in the valves and heart and the strength of the heart muscle.

they can't be detected MORE accuratly, but they can be heard that way. Often the examiner will hear a murmur, and then do an ECHO to specifically figure out the problem EKG won't pick it up.
