Metformin 500mg is usually prescribed to treat type 2 diabetes. I've also seen it used as an appetite suppressant. Maybe your first doctor thought your Blood Sugar was a bit high so he prescribed it for that purpose. It's probably a good idea to give your doctor a call and ask him why he prescribed it.

Apparently certain women with PCOS get Metformin prescribed even though they're not diabetic. Don't worry... Metformin is relatively harmless (unless you drink too much alcohol). It has never caused hypoglycemia (or any other ill effects) in the three years I've been taking it. For a person that's usually down on doctors and overprescribing, that's saying something.

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.
Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

I had these prescribed as I have Polycystic ovaries. They can help people control certain hormone levels and help with weightloss. I am also aware of them being prescribed in people in what has been described in pre diabetes as more of a prevention than a cure.

The other fairly common use of metformin is in PCO (polycystic ovary disease.) . It is also used to stimulate ovulation in some types of infertility. Im guessing it may be you had a gynaecology problem. If this is the case your GP really should know that the drug has other uses!
