Yes! If the person in question is a diabetic, it is definitely possible.
If a persons sugar goes to low is it possible for them to go into coma. If their sugar goes to high it is also possible for them to go into coma.
Your mother is looking out for your and your brothers own well being.

I am a type 1 diabetic, but blood sugar levels are the same for both types. I have been in a coma before and had very low blood sugars. The numbers are not the same for every person. Coma's are somewhat rare - most of the time one will lose consciousness, but once blood sugar is returned to normal they will be practically back to normal. There is no specific number that he will go into a coma in. For example, I have been fully conscious (though confused) while my blood glucose meter read 17. I am guessing that some people could easily lose consciousness around 30, but it all depends. If you guys are worried, just try to adjust meds and wake up for a 3 a.m. blood test. Good luck. PS - My doctor told me that permanent effects from a coma as a result of low blood sugars is rare because the body does have an emergency response when it gets too low. It can break down different things for glucose, and there will be no loss if the body still has glucose to keep the body functioning.

Ok, yes and no. First of all, diabetes is NOT caused from too much sugar intake. Know that! Believe it! BECAUSE IT IS TRUE! Yes, people who are diabetic can go into a sugar induced coma but that is only because their body does not produce insulin to turn the sugar into energy instead of just leaving it in the blood to spill over into their urine and cause ketoacidosis. Normal healthy people can not go into a sugar coma because their pancreas works fine and produces the insulin needed to process it.

yes... and it is very common... to go into diabetic coma( hyper osmolar) if the sugar is very high. Also if the sugar is very high ; the patient can go into a state called diabetic ketoacidosis, which has got very high mortality rate.If the blood sugar level goes below 60 mg/dl, patients can go into a hypoglycemic shock or coma and if not corrected immediately; this can damage the brain and especially the cortex of the brain which is related with the intelligence; permanently.

IF you have diabetes it is possible. HOWEVER, in the absence of disease or other pathological state, there is no way your liver will let you get that low. Blood glucose is meticulously maintained by the body and "hypoglycemia" is rarely a problem in a normal healthy person.
However, all that sugar isn't good for you anyway, so your mom isn't wrong to limit it from you. It might help you not get diabetes later.

Yes, My mother, who is diabetic, has been to the hospital twice in a coma. Her sugar was in the low teens. Other times have been that low, but we have brought her back ourselves. I hope this doesn't happen to you. It really stinks to be in that situation.
