Yes you can if you've been subjected to smokers around you in an (especially) small areas of space of coarse your lungs are inhaling the atmosphere in which you are.
The sad part too is the same goes for Pot smokers are invading
what you breath as well. There's really no way around it and sympathize with you if your a non-smoker and for some reason
may be unaccountable for this.
However the individual doing this test should have knowledge of this and/or be able to derive the differentiation if it is a reputable Company, Military, or Law enforcement.

P.S. An elderly lady worked as a waitress for 40 yrs. never smoked a day in her life, in that atmosphere she was subjected to is dying of Lung Cancer and does Commercials here in Canada as she sued the tobacco industry, and won!
