According to the world's oldest books of wisdom, the Vedas, those who are cow-killers ( steak eaters ) are considered to be among the most barbaric class of men or women. Such barbarians can belong to any ethnic group. Vedic cultre is based upon living in harmony with one's environment, which includes cow-protection. The cow is likened to one of seven sacred mothers, and under no condition should she ever be slaughtered due to the great gifts she provides in the form of milk, butter, ghee, cheese, yogurt, etc...Similarly, the bull is compared to a father, because when he is harnessed as an ox, he can be very useful for ploughing the land, and for transport.
Certainly this is a far more civilized and advanced culture than the one of present day lunatics, in the guise of politicians, who ruthlessly sell armaments to other nations, only to then call them terrorists, and then attack them under this thin pretext, in order to rob them of their oil and other resources. If humans would protect cows and bulls instead of butchering them, there would be far more peace in the world. Wars, earthquakes, pestilence, famine, droughts, etc...are all a result of millions of people daily killing cows, and breaking the laws of karma. According to the Vedas, because the cow is our "mother', the reaction for the sin of killing the cow for "steak", is that in your next life, your mother will kill you, or in other words you will become an abortion. Very risky activity !!! These are statements taken from the wise sages representing the Bhagavad Gita, Manu Samhita, etc....
There are gradations of human beings in terms of proportionate faith in the Supreme Personality of Godhead. The first-class faithful men are the Vaisnavas and the brähmanas, then the ksatriyas, then the vaisyas, then the südras, then the mlecchas, the yavanas and at last the candalas. The degradation of the human instinct begins from the mlecchas, and the candala state of life is the last word in human degradation. All the above terms mentioned in the Vedic literatures are never meant for any particular community or birth. They are different qualifications of human beings in general. There is no question of birthright or community. One can acquire the respective qualifications by one's own efforts, and thus the son of a Vaiñëava can become a mleccha, or the son of a caëòäla can become more than a brähmaëa, all in terms of their association and intimate relation with the Supreme Lord.
If one cannot control their tounge from eating dead flesh, it is better to eat other animals than cows, because one will suffer less in their next life, according to Vedic statements about the law of karma, The first step would be to stop eating "steak", and the next step would be to discover all the incredible vegetarian recipes that billions have been enjoying or centuries.

That depends on how it was prepared. However, it's definately European in origin, as the European-based cuisines are pretty much the only ones that use beef products as an entree instead of a flavouring.

it depends how you prepare it
steak frites (french) become steak and fries (american) when cooked in different countries
although they do have steak in japan, what you are used to thinking of as steak (that cut and preparation; usually served w/fries) originated in europe and was brought to america with immigrants when it was first settled
