look man for a very high building we use long pipes and to make them remain attach to the wall we use c shaped hooks that support them. so like these pipe our trachea also needs a support and that's why there is c shaped rings of cartilage if these rings are not c shaped then u cannot do physical work very lightly this is thing of imagination, just think about what i have say to u then u understand it.thanks
