I guess it depends. What signs did you have about 2 months ago? If it was a primary outbreak then likely you got it from your current partner. If it was just mild symptoms then you could have had some symptoms that you never noticed for a decade or more, the majority of people with either type of herpes simplex either location are in this category.

In this case, there would be absolutely no way to ever know for sure where it came from.

What is important is knowing your type, and your boyfriend being tested to find out his status. Once you know what each of you may have then you can decide what, if any, precautions you want to take with each other.

Also an important questions is when did you get the test, and what exactly was it for? If the test was for short-term antibodies then typing is not accurate and you should be tested again. If it was for long-term antibodies and you took it right at the time that you noticed symptoms, then the typing is accurate but you likely had it before.

Since 90% percent of the worlds population has hsv1 there really is no telling. Most people contract that as babies by people kissing them all of the time. Only 10% of those with hsv1 actually get the coldsores related to them.
My fiance has hsv2 and he said he got his outbreak 3 weeks after his ex gave it to him. He has had one outbreak in 3 years. I however have not contracted this from him as some people seem to be immune or at less of a risk for contracting... I don't know why. But it came up negative when I got all of my test results from the OB a couple of weeks ago because I was worried since finding out I am pregnant.

I got identified with the herpes simplex virus (type 2) about 5 years ago, when I was still in college and had a foolish one-night stand. I know loads of young women say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a huge mistake that one time and all of a sudden I felt like I was going to have to live with the consequences for my entire life. The hardest part was feeling I could never date men again. In the end, who wants to go out with someone that has sores round her "you know what" area? But since a friend shared this movie https://tr.im/LowrY everything got better.

Not only was I able to eliminate all traces of the hsv from my system in less than 3 weeks, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so lucky to write that just last week, in front of everybody in a busy restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!!! This program gave me back the chance to be happy and experience real love again. Now I hope that I can help others by sharing this story.

Usually people experience their first outbreak anywhere from 2-14 days after being infected. Some people however can take several months or even years to show any signs of the virus.

My first outbreak was about a week after I contracted the virus. But not everyone is the same. It's possible you could have got it from your boyfriend or even your ex husband. They should probably both be tested.
