A coronary angiogram is a special X-ray test. It’s done to find out if your coronary arteries are clogged, where and by how much.Where as Coronary angioplasty means that it is a medical procedure used to restore blood flow through a narrowed or blocked artery in the heart. The arteries of the heart (the coronary arteries) can become narrowed and blocked due to buildup of a material called plaque on their inner walls. This narrowing reduces the flow of blood through the artery and can lead, over time, to coronary artery disease and heart attack. In angioplasty, a thin tube with a balloon or other device on the end is first threaded through a blood vessel in the arm or groin (upper thigh) up to the site of a narrowing or blockage in a coronary artery. Once in place, the balloon is then inflated to push the plaque outward against the wall of the artery, widening the artery and restoring the flow of blood through it.

What is an angiogram?
An angiogram is an imaging test that uses x-rays to view your body’s blood vessels. Physicians often use this test to study narrow, blocked, enlarged, or malformed arteries in many parts of your body, including your brain, heart, abdomen, and legs. When the arteries are studied, the test is also called an arteriogram. If the veins are studied, it is called a venogram.
To create the x-ray images, your physician will inject a liquid, sometimes called "dye", through a thin, flexible tube, called a catheter. He or she threads the catheter into the desired artery or vein from an access point. The access point is usually in your groin but it can also be in your arm. This "dye", properly called contrast, makes the blood flowing inside the blood vessels visible on an x-ray. The contrast is later eliminated from your body through your kidneys and your urine. Your physician will recommend an angiogram to diagnose a variety of vascular conditions, including:
• Blockages of the arteries outside of your heart, called peripheral artery disease (PAD)
• Enlargements of the arteries, called aneurysms
• Kidney artery conditions, called renovascular conditions
• Problems in the arteries that branch off the aorta, called aortic arch conditions
• Malformed arteries, called vascular malformations
• Problems with your veins, such as deep venous thrombosis (DVT) or blood clots in the lungs called pulmonary emboli
Sometimes physicians can also treat a problem during an angiogram. For instance, your physician may be able to dissolve a clot that he or she discovers during the test. A physician may also perform an angioplasty and stenting procedure to clear blocked arteries during an angiogram, depending on the location and extent of the blockage. An angiogram can also help your physician plan operations to repair the arteries for more extensive problems.
What is angioplasty?
Angioplasty is also called percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA), coronary artery balloon dilation or balloon angioplasty. Angioplasty increases the flow of blood and oxygen through a clogged heart artery without surgery. A physician uses an instrument called a catheter equipped with a tiny balloon to widen the opening in a partially blocked artery.

Angiogram is an exploratory procedure to determine if there is a blockage in an artery. Angioplasty is the inflation of a balloon inside an artery to break any blockage found.

Angiography is a special Xray in which Through Femoral vein or Radial artery a catheter is pushed rt up to heart & A florescent dye is injected which circulate through coronay ateries ( they r two rt & left .left has left anterior desending & circumflex ) the dye pushed made thses all vessles visulized & if there r any blocade due to plaque or atheroma it is noticed & exact location of block & % of block is noticed. Angioplasty is also done through catheter Can be done in same sitting through same catheter if their r block ) pushed in the blocked coronary & there r microscoplic blade like rotacutter which removes the clogging & then stent - a meshed meal tube exactly the size of vessel is put to prevent further clogging. The stents r now adays always medicated to prevent adherence of platlets. After angioplasty antiplatelet drugs like aspirin & clopitab r taken as precaution. EVen after angioplasty life style changes & walking briskly r nedded to prevent further such blocking.

Angiography a technique where an X-ray is taken to look at inner openings of arteries, veins, and your heart. An angiogram is the actual photo/image.
Angioplasty is the process of widening a blocked or narrowed blood vessel.
