If a woman has the cancer causing hpv and she transmits it to the male will it cause him to get penile cancer or might it cause him to become sterile? I am wondering how exactly it harms the male.

There are over 100 types of HPV.

The HPV types that cause cervical cancer has no known effect on males.

There are two other types of HPV that are transferred sexually that cause genital warts in both males and females. These two types are not known to cause cervical cancer and are concidered "low-risk types."

The venereal warts will cause the head of the penis to look like a field of tiny cabbages. This is definitely not appealing to a potential partner. He won't go sterile or die from it, but he will pass it on to partners unless he religiously uses condoms. Now, think about that - if he wanted to father a child he'd have to take the raincoat off which would pass the HPV to the mother, who then runs the risk of cervical cancer.

It's a lose/lose situation - particularly when the treatment is so simple.

I believe it does not harm men... It can very rarely cause anal cancer, mostly in gay men (because you have to get HPV in your anus...), but I don't believe there are any other consequences. If there are it's so rare that it's never even mentioned...

Yes, it can cause cancers in men, but it is not as prevalent.
