A condom is not likely to protect you from getting herpes. It is a virus and can be spread very easily, even when a visible lesion is not present. It is carried in the body once infected and the lesions tend to pop up when stressed or weakened by some other infection.

Yep....herpes is one of the few STDs that condoms can't do much to prevent. It spreads through skin contact. If there is a sore about to develp, and he touches it putting on the condom, then touches your genital area, voila....you have herpes. There are cases of people with herpes infections in their eyes, on their nipples, it seems to be pretty easy to spread from one part of the body to another.

sadly yes. The herpes virus can be on other parts that the actul penis or vagina. The skin sourounding those areas. The condom does not cover those areas. Which i think they need to make one. lol sorry. you should get tested but, dont get tested to soon unless showing signs. Wait atleast 12 weeks of encountering with that person. hope this helps.takecare and good luck.

Depends on where the lesions are. They can be around the anus, anywhere in the genital area, or even Genital Herpes II on the mouth.
