If you are talking about HSV1 which is the one that can cause coldsores on the mouth you have probably had it since you were a small baby. 100 million americans have herpes simplex 1. Only 10% of those with HSV1 actually get the coldsore. It tends to be contracted by so many people kissing you as a baby.
Herpes simplex 2 is shares approx. 50% of the DNA as herpes simplex 1. 40 million americans have hsv2.
You can transfer hsv1 to your genitals easier than you can transfer hsv2 to your mouth.

This is tough. Because usually sharing utensils doesnt always mean you will get it. But some doctors have studied and said it can just like toliets. Another thing which might sound crazy is how long was it after they took a sip then you did? I only say this because some doctors say if it is some many minutes apart then it has already died in the air. Most stds cannot live in the air or away from their host. People say herpes is not a big deal in the mough area. Which i dont think it is. Sweetie most people in the world have herpes, one and two. It might be hard an embarrising but there is always something worse that could be happening. I hope this helps. Takecare.

Hi! Not always but if they are having a breakout--which sometimes you don't even know when---you most likely will get herpes. It is very easy to catch. My girlfriend got it at 19 from just touching his genitals. That's for life! "Drinking" and anal sex puts you in greater danger than most sex acts because it goes in the bloodstream easier. Anal sex usually creates small tears that make the prospect of catching STDs and AIDs much higher. Don't do these things just because you want to please him until you are sure of marraige or a long monogamous relationship. You mine as well put 3 bullets in a gun that takes 6 and pulling the trigger at yourself. Men don't need to be always babied. They always want pleasure and when they find a woman that will fulfill their addiction, they will use her up, but will usually leave them after a while because they get bored fast. Try to get to know the guy and make him respect your body and your mouth. Why would a man that loves you take a chance on giving you a disease that will make painful sores on her mouth and genitals? Doesn't sound like like love to me. Have more respect in youself please! Good luck!

If someone has herpes tell them to eat large quantities of raw fresh garlic. Garlic will kill the herpes virus. I know, I had herpes. I no longer have it.

If the herpes is active yes you would get it unless you are extremely lucky.
