Will be sitting at my desk or at home, just reading or something and will get the feeling that I need to stand up and fill my lungs with air, like I need to take a really deep breath. It's a hard sensation to describe but doesn't come after physical exercise (tested that one out today by going for a good long walk) just occasionally, usually when I'm not doing anything strenuous. And oh, when I feel like that, it gets worse when I talk and I then seem to get visibly breathless. Suppose I'd best go to the doctors but have half frightened myself to death by looking up all sorts of morbid stuff on the net. Can anyone make some suggestions as to what this could be?

You'll be more frightened if you find yourself stretched out on the floor and powerless to move. None of us are crazy enough to diagnose something without more info about your health. If you're not going to the doctor until next week, at least start a diary so that you can better explain your symptons and what causes them to ocur.

Get to a doctor, pronto. I had similar symptoms, ignored it, and I was diagnosed with a serious lung disease. I'm not trying to scare ou, but better safe than sorry.
