papad is made of lentils & daals so it is very healthy, IF you make it directly on a flame or in the microwave. It's usually deep fried, so eat it in moderation.

Papad is a common accompaniment served with an Indian meal, there are any number of variations, depending on taste & region, basic dough is ground gram flour,.Rice, sorgum flour or even sago can be made into papads, spices like chillie or pepper in powder or roughly crushed form are added at times,When deep fried you would be careful as you would with any deep fried food, broiled or microwaved has no fat ,so it a source of pure protein of the pulse used in making.

Unless they are eaten by the kilogrammes they have little bearing on a person's health. The salt content and frying in oil would make them unhealthy. Take it as accompaniments to the entire rice-based Indian meal for pleasure and not because they are healthy.

Not really. It is just an accompaniment to the Indian meal (lunch/ dinner) and has no nutritional value as such. Some people have it as an appetizer or with drinks.
It is made of chickpea flour and spices. It can either be roasted or fried. People have it for its spicy taste.
