it depends on the gyno. check with the doctor to see what the test includes. Sometimes, doctors just check with out need for asking. Sometimes, the patient needs to specify.

The Pap test cannot diagnose the presnce or absence of HIV. The pap test involves the scraping of cells off the cervix, which are stained and visualised with a light microscope. The cells are then looked at by a scientist for the presence or absence of precancerous changes.
HIV diagnosis requires a blood test. Whilst there may be other methods, they are not as sensitive or as specific as a blood test for HIV, which are typically double checked by the lab.

When you get your PAP test they often will test for STDs as well by doing a swab and getting a blood test done. If she got a blood test for STDs as part of her PAP/physical exam then HIV will have been tested for.

If the PAP did not involve a blood test, then further testing needs to be done.

A different test or if the patient requested I believe they could use the pap smear collection to use for the HIV test.

Pap tests are for cancer. A blood test is needed for HIV.

Absolutely not. The only way to know if you have HIV is to take an HIV test. They have quicker tests now and there is one where you swipe your gums with this stick and the results come back in 20 minutes.
