Your doc must think your arrythmia's are not harmful, and that you feeling them is making you anxious. 'Calming' you down a bit may help prevent you feel them, or by making you less anxious not as susceptible to them. That med doesn't work on the heart, only your feelings.

alprazolam is a tranquilizer. It can to a certain extent calm down the heart. So it may be effective in heart arrythmias. But it wont address the basic problem of heart arrythmias. It will only tackle mental tension that can contribute to heart arrythmias

It is not an indication for alprazolam.
