Haemoptisis may indeed occur in a chest infection. If mixed in with coloured sputum in the presence of a high fever it a classical sign of pneumonia.
More commonly it is coughed up either streaking the sputum or on its own. This is due to the trauma of coughing bursting a blood vessel.
The only concern that I have is that you don't mention that you had a chest x-ray performed. If this was done and showed nothing fine, evidence of simple infection, fine but a repeat is needed in 2 weeks. I would be a little unhappy if it was omitted.
Chest x-ray or not, if you are not recovering see your GP.

Coughing up blood is not a good sign but if your Dr ran the appropriate tests to diagnose a chest infection & hopefully prescribed something for it, follow the advise of your Dr. Of course if you continue to cough up blood you will need to go back to the Dr. It all depends on the color & consistancy of the blood as to whether it is more serious than a chest infection URI (upper respiratory infection).

yes it can be, if the blood is bright red it is an indication of a burst capillary from coughing very hard. If the blood is old and brownish looking I would get it checked by the dr

Depending on the amount it is consistent with TB. Either way, it is not normal. Go and see a doctor. If it is large quantities, go to the hospital.
Good luck
