How old is the little blighter? Poor kid. I bought frozen fruit pops and spent a lot of time with books and cool wet cloths with mine. The humidifier is a great idea. The meds will kick in within hours. Lukewarm baths helped but my girls hated them. ANY way you can get fluid into him and over the counter kiddie meds for fever.
I bet you have all of this down pat! I promise this will pass soon!
My mom also taught me the value of Mentholatum rubs with a towel. They really help when combined with steam. If we were really sick, we got Mustard Plasters. Now THAT is a threat guaranteed to make you want to get better fast.

I once suffered from Chronic Bronchitis. I would suffer sometimes 3 to 4 times per year! Usually when there was a major change in the pressure outside (I live in the north, and the temperature spikes and dips do wonders to chronic sufferers of bronchitis!). Each time I would get horrible hacking coughs, hoarking up green phlegm..it was so frustrating!
The key to getting rid of your bronchitis is to find a way to completely eliminate the germs that are causing all the phlegm and irritation leading to your hoarking cough and heavy breathing. Keep reading to learn how to do kill these germs!!
This page it will change your life and make you feel 100% better within just 24 hours!

I have allegies and the specialist said I should never use a humidifier. But I hope your son does not fall into that catagory.
I use Vicks vapor rub, it soothes the chest while it provides a comforting smell (and it is a loving thing to rub it on his chest and back).
Also try warming his feet. It may seem old fashioned to think of a person with their feet in hot water while they are trying to get better from a cold or the flu but it actually helps somehow to break up congestion. If he is young, use a warm towel from the dryer (make sure it isn't too hot) Good luck

Actually it would be wise to incorporate holistic treatments and vitamins to help counteract the toxicity of the antibiotics which are not all that good for your son's constitution. For bronchitis I would recommend liquid oregano, which you can get in a health food store, echinacea liquid, taken as directed, and at least 1,500 milligrammes of Vitamin C or more per day. He also needs to drink copious amounts of liquid, herbal teas would be helpful.

Non prescription medications such as cough drops. Drinking a lot of liquids (water) helps.

Lots of water. NO SODA. Try to keep him from jumping around. That will cause him to cough and wheeze (make matters worse for him).

Warm comforting baths, cold popsicles for his throat if it hurts, camphor compress to his chest, hot tea if he will drink it, lots of hugs from you!
