It sounds really silly but you could practice doing it on an orange. Then you get comfortable using the syringe or needle. I had a teddy bearthat had pads on its legs, bum, thighs and fingers and arms for me to get it just right before stabbing myself like a pin cushion.
onceyou are confident the needle is going in the right place at the right speed you will feel plenty relaxed
It's not so bad, just ensure that you change the injection site every day otherwise you end up with "insulin resistance lumps" and let me tell you they hurt like hell....

Ok.. first of all.. * PRACTICE ON AN ORANGE*...take some syringes and practice giving an orange a shot..because it's texture is similar to giving yourself an injection.. Also..there is a little tip on the needle where the insulin comes out of..make sure that is facing upward (it won't hurt as much).. Just relax and choose a "chubby" part on your body.... I always gave injections in my tummy. But just practice and relax..and you will do fine. Good Luck!

I've been giving shots for 19 years, and I can't stand them at all. I was on 2 shots a day and a couple years ago my insulin was switched and now I give 4 a day, and if you have kids that are around and you really don't want to give the shots, let them. They may need the experience just in case.

I used to inject my mother when she was dying. It's just one of those things where it gets easier with practice. Of course, it's different when you're doing it on yourself. On the other hand... how about this?....
Personally, I do everything I can to stay off insulin. I eat right, keep my weight down, exercise, and take some supplements. Some here are saying that supplements don't work. Read my blood test and judge for yourself: http://www.geocities.com/seabulls69/Type_II_Diabetes.html
