I was diagnosed with this horrendus sinus infection. They gave me a 10-day supply of Avelox 400mg. I started to feel better 4 days into taking the meds and kept getting better. All of a sudden I got symptoms again when I woke up this morning (day 10). My throat is burning and hurts from stuff draining down in , I keep sneezing and theirs lots of mucus (clear but alot). Did the Avelox work? Did I catch something new (several or my co-workers are sick too).

If you took the full prescriptions and still have symptoms of the infection still being there (sinus pressure, green mucous in the nose, or a stuffy feeling, or even a sinus headache) then you need to go back to your doctor. He can prescribe another antibiotic or he may refer you to an ENT (ears, nose, throat) doctor. Good luck. Hope you feel better soon!

Do you have severe head and sinus pain? Do you have trouble with your eyes focusing? Are you having severe head pressure that is much more intesnse when you bend over? If you do not have those other symptoms then you most likely do not still have the infection. YOu have sinsus drainage but you said it is clear so this is what is causing your sore throat. Take and antihistmine to dry up your sinuses. If you have the intense symptoms though that I first mentioned then you may still have the infection but from the sounds of your post I doubt you still have it.

Nature abhors a vacuum. Antibiotics don't cure problems, they just move them around. You should have used a nasal lavage (pinch of salt in 1/2 cup of warm water, sniff it up your nose- with your head over the sink) and Get a cool mist humidifier, and add a pint of hydrogen peroxide to the gallon tank. Run this at night while sleeping. The mist helps to disinfect the lungs etc. Peroxide is something your body makes to fight infections, so you are not adding a foreign element. If you have taken antibiotics, get a pro-biotic to get your digestive system rebalanced.

You might have a virus now or a new bug. Even if the mucus is clear, it could still be from bacteria. I think you should go back to your doctor.

Clear mucus would be a sign that you are over the worst of it.
