only nurses or doctors only, I can make a guess about this as much as any other regular joe, I want ACTUAL help and knowledge.
I've had a cough for about a month now. now other symptoms, but a cough. it started out with no phlegm or anything, just a tickly feeling in my lungs that would make me cough a lot. about a week later when I'd cough you could hear the mucus and such flinging around my chest, but the cough didn't make any come out. I was told my cough sounded really gross and everyone kept asking if i'd like a tissue, but the cough produced nothing, just made gross noises. about a week ago the cough started being productive, I was very happy and assumed it was finally going to go away. then yesterday (no idea if this is related) I was in mid sentence and I started having a coughing fit, between coughs I tried to breathe in but it was like my throat was closed, I was barely getting any air in. after a few minutes it subsided. last night ... more in additional details.

so last night the coughs that happened as I was trying to sleep looked like they had a little bit of blood in them, but I thought nothing of it and went to bed. well this morning there is definitely blood in the mucus. last night were tiny speckles, but this morning it's a lot more. sometimes though there is now blood in it, which is why I'm debating going to the doctor's because he'll want a sample but i can't guarantee that when i cough there will be blood.
so my question is, what could this possibly be? I still have no other symptoms like fever, chills, sore throat...nothing. I feel fine except for the coughing.

I'd really like to thank all of you for IGNORING the actual medical advice only. you've been a great help by saying things like "go to the ER NOW!"
I am seeking advice on what the probability of it being something serious is when I feel perfectly fine besides coughing. I called my doctor about a week ago for the cough lasting so long and was told that sometimes we just get a cough and as long as I don't have a fever not to worry.
I am not hoping for someone to diagnose me from here, I was simply asking on actual medical opinions on whether this was serious enoguh to see a doctor or not because they are a bunch of hypochondriacs out there flooding dr's offices and I don't want to be one of them when there are people that actually need help. I am hesitant because I feel FINE.
it is not tuberculosis, I rarely leave my house, I don't travel, and no one I know has tuberculosis.

First off, your doctor WILL believe you when you tell him about the blood. He can order an xray and a sputum specimen (that you can bring to the lab the next time you cough one up!). Blood can be from infection, irritation, from your nose and/or sinues. It can also be things more serious, namely:TB. So, get checked, more than likely it will put you at ease to at least get an xray done.
No specific advice can be given cause no specific diagnosis was given----I'm sure your doc would be willing to give his opinion if you called him too, sounds like you really don't want to go.

Hemoptysis (coughing up blood) in adults has a fairly broad differential diagnosis (list of possible causes), including some that are very serious, such as tuberculosis or even some types of cancer. Of course, it may well be something much less serious, but you absolutely must be seen by your physician as soon as possible for a thorough evaluation.

what i would advice you to do is
1. whenever you cough, cover your mouth with a tissue then discard immediately
2. go to a doctor (preferably a pulmonologist) and tell all the symptoms you have been experiencing. He might ask you for a sample of your sputum for testing
3.drink plenty of fluids and stay away from crowded places
4. get enough rest
-the blood in your sputum may be due to irritation of the lining of your larynx or pharynx due to excessive coughing, or it may be due to other causes. So the best thing is go see a doctor.

Probability of your condition being tuberculosis is about 70-80%. hemoptysis - sputum in blood is a sign as well as night sweats, coughing fits body malaise and cough lasting more than two weeks. only an xray and a sputum exam can confirm the presence of mycobacterium bacilli. see a doctor NOW as it is very communicable. have you travelled recently? you might have caught it there.

Turn OFF your computer and see the doctor NOW.
Why put your health at risk by asking strangers on the internet?
This is SERIOUS... You should make an appointment NOW.
Edit: Yes, everything is "normal" except you are COUGHING UP BLOOD.
a doctor needs to evaluate YOU, which means you need to GET TO A DOCTOR to be diagnosed.
stop screwing with your health by trying to get a diagnosis online, from people who cannot see you and cannot properly evaluate you.
