I have been concerned about this due to one occasion with a woman from a country where it's more common. I don't even know if she is or not, but worried. I read on a web-site that it is 1 in 200,000.

Does anybody know if this is accurate? This seems a little low to me, but does make me feel better. Are there any other real statistics out there? It's too soon for me to have a test, and I'm just trying to get answers.

Women are more likely to get HIV from an infected male partner then a man getting HIV from an infected female partner. There is a chance that if she was positive you could get it too. I would agree that 1 in 200,000 is a bit low but im not sure if anyone really knows the number, many factors are involved such as the strength of your immune system at the time of exsposure, the type of HIV, how ill the other person is, ect. There may be no symptoms of the infection but some people report a flu like cold 2 weeks after exsposure. Go get yourself tested and let this be a strong learning experience that when having fun, glove up!

the possibility of contracting HIV from a single episode of unprotected vaginal intercourse (in keeping with various examine) is predicted around a million in one thousand, this is rather low. that's the probablilty for an infection. yet HIV isn't a interest of information and probabilities. in case you had unprotected intercourse, you will desire to get examined. that's maximum in all probability would be unfavorable.

People have slept with one person and contracted HIV. It takes ONE time. Go to the doctor, explain your situation, set up a HIV test appointment, and the next time you decide to have sex remember to use the condom.

I'm a nurse. It really depends on how your body will respond to being exposed. There's nothing to worry about until you have the test and the results are in. Please try to find peace during this time.
