My daughter came into my room this morning and was cheery, but she said she had laryngitius, as I had noticed. Yesterday morning, her voice sounded a little odd, but by night, it was pretty normal again. Today, it sounds raspy. She is also constantly clearing her throat. Any remedies? Thanks!

A good gargle may seem like an obvious remedy, but it's not. Keep her completely quiet. And that means avoiding whispering, too. It's a given that talking should be avoided: It strains her vocal cords, prolonging or worsening laryngitis. But its a little-known fact that whispering can be just as bad, or even worse. Whispering causes her to bang her vocal cords together as strongly as if she was shouting . Lead her hoarse to water. Downing at least eight glasses of water a day--and preferably ten--ensures that her larynx stays moist, a key step in curing laryngitis. The water should be warm or room temperature--not overly hot or cold. And don't add salt or alcohol. (Forget about hot toddies: They're too drying.) If water isn't her favorite beverage, she can also drink juice and (warm) tea with honey. hope she will get well soon, cheers

Get a cool mist humidifier, and add a pint of hydrogen peroxide to the gallon tank. Run this at night while sleeping. The mist helps to disinfect the lungs etc. Peroxide is something your body makes to fight infections, so you are not adding a foreign element.

No remedies, it just has to run it's course. I had it once and there is no pain, you feel ok, but you just can't talk. I got it after having a cold, talking too much in one day and woke up with it.
It will just take a couple days and it will go away on it's own.
