We had a diabetic dog for close to ten years.

Get Hill's Prescription Diet for diabetic dogs. It's only available through your vet. Other companies, such as Purina, sell similar products.

Be aware that diabetic dogs are at risk for developing cataracts. (That's how we found our dog was diabetic.) If they develop, they can be treated by a specialist vet using the same procedure as with humans.

We had a diabetic dog awhile ago. Had to give him daily insulin shots twice a day. Check with your vet about the food situation - he can recommend the correct type of food for your dog - and never give your 'baby' table scraps. Good luck - with proper diet and your good care and love your dog will be happy and healthy.
