YES, there is a generic for PLAVIX. The generic name is: CLOPIDOGREL. I started getting the generic about 2 months ago. Ask your pharmacist. It is alot cheaper !!!!

Yes there is it is made by Apotex and was released last year, however it was pulled off the market after a few months due to a legal dispute with mfg of Plavix,hopefully it will be back sometime this year.

No, Plavix is the only currently available form of the drug clopidogrel. Drugs are protected by patents for a period of time to allow the drug companies to recover the costs of developing the drugs.

Not yet. The pharmaceutical company is still trying to recoup the money they spent developing the drug. They have 7 years to recoup the almost $5B before they release the formula for generic manufacture.

I know it is expensive, but don't stop taking it. It will save your life (assuming you have a drug-eluting stent).
