You can get labial herpes from using a person's chapstick. Labial herpes is not an STD. Genital herpes is an STD, but whatever you've got, it almost certainly isn't that. The virus that causes labial herpes is very common. Most people are infected at an early age because people are always kissing babies. The infection lasts a lifetime and can cause what are called cold sores. You can be infected and have no symptoms for long periods of time or for your whole life.

You need a doctor to be sure. Don't wait around either.
And to everyone...it's gross to use someone's chapstick. I bought one and my MIL used it right in front of me. GAG That's like spitting in someone else's mouth. Unless you are dating the person, leave their chapstick alone. Don't use chapstick you are not sure where it's been, if you know what I mean.
Go to the doctor. Good luck.

Yes, but only if she was having an outbreak. But that sounds like type 1 to me. Is that what she has? The only way to be 100% positive is to get tested. Until you get your results do not kiss anyone or have sex. You could be passing it around. Condoms do not always protect you against the virus. Be careful! Even though herpes is not curable it is manageable. Best of luck.

There are two types - Herpes I and Herpes II.
both are incurable, neither is life-threatening.
One affects your mouth area (cold sores and blisters) the other grabs you a little lower down your body (if you see what I mean - inside your underwear).
It's unpleasant, but don't sweat about it.

I would def say yes you could if she is in the active stage at the time she used the chapstick. I would go to a clinic or a doctor just to be sure. MedicineNet.com is a good place to look up questions about health related problems.
I hope for your sake its just acne.
