4 % of all white people are carriers for "fibrosis cistica", Cystic Fibrosis to the rest of us. If the father is also a carrier, then there is a one in four chance that the baby would be affected.
That means if you do not know the father is a carrier or not, then 96% chance that he is not and 99% chance the baby will not have the problem.
If he is carrier, then there is a 75% chance that the baby will not be affected.
I would recommend that he be tested.

It sounds like if you are a carrier, then you will pass it on to your baby, if the baby is a girl. My sister has it and she just got out of surgery recently because of it, but can still have kids. It was passed down by my grandmother. My mother and I never got it. So, unless you currently have them, then that might cause a problem.

You need to learn to ask your doctor lots of questions. How will affect the baby, if it does, what am I to expect, will I be symptomatic, what are the symptoms, how is it treated, etc. If your doctor can't answer that, then you need to find a new doctor...preferrably a fertility specialist.
