The most common symptoms include: frequent urination, increased thirst and sometimes increased appetite.

Other signs and symptoms include: blurry vision, fatigue, dry skin, nausea and wounds that take longer to heal....

these symptoms are non-specific (meaning if you have these symptoms, it doesn't necessarily mean you have diabetes). You should see your doctor and get a simple blood test to make sure.

If you have really serious diabetes that goes untreated for a long time, you can develop nerve damage....numbness in your arms and legs (which can lead to lesions or sores b/c you dont feel it when you hurt yourself)....sometimes in really serious cases, people have had to have their feet or toes ampuated. but this is only in really serious cases. Long-term untreated diabetes can also lead to kidney problems, and vision problems. So check with your doctor!!

Symptoms of low blood sugar = shaking, sweating, dizziness, hunger, anxiousness, headache, irritability
Low blood sugar usually occurs if you are taking diabetes medication and you haven't eaten anything recently, so your blood sugar drops too low.......you probably won't have these symptoms unless you are already taking diabetes medications.

Signs and Symptoms of Diabetes:

• Increased thirst
• Going to the loo (for a wee) all the time – especially at night
• Extreme tiredness
• Weight loss
• Blurred vision
• Genital itching or regular episodes of thrush
• Slow healing of wounds
• Nausea
• Dizzyness
• Funny taste in your mouth, that is described as smelling like pear drops
• Lack of concentration
• A big change in appetite

In Type 1 diabetes the signs and symptoms will usually be very obvious, developing quickly, usually over a few weeks.

In people with Type 2 diabetes the signs and symptoms will not be so obvious or even non-existent in people with Type 2 diabetes. If you’re older you may put the symptoms down to ‘getting on a bit’. Taking early action is key so if any of the symptoms apply to you, ask your GP for a diabetes test.

In both types of diabetes, the symptoms are quickly relieved once the diabetes is treated. Early treatment will also reduce the chances of developing serious health problems.

Treatment for diabetes depends on the type of diabetes you have. With type 2, it can be controlled with tablets (such as Metformin) or diet alone. However, type 1 diabetes can only be treated with insulin injections.

Keep yourself healthy, exercise regularly and make sure your heart is in good condition. If you have any concerns - go and see your GP. It is genetic and the more you ignore it, the worse it will be.

Take care

You need to contact your doctor because nobody on here can tell you if you have diabetes, but here is some advice. How old are you? That is important because we need to know if u might be a case for type 1 or type 2. If u are overweight and not active, anyone can be at risk for type 2. I had all the signs of type 1 diabetes. I lost 20 pounds in a month and was starving for water. I had a hard time breathing. I could not see well. I slipped into a diabetic coma called ketoacidosis. I almost died because I waited. Now I am insulin dependent and am going to be recieving a pump. I was 24 when this happened which is rare but still happens. GO TO YOUR DOCTOR. I hope u r ok. Please feel free to ask me more though.

RE:
What are the symptoms of diabetes other than peeing too often?

My step son, before he was diagnosed, was always either really naughty, loud, and hyperactive or tired, sullen, quiet and miserable. There was no middle ground. He was taking sweets and snacks form the 'treat' cupboard more than he should and was drinking and peeing a lot.
He was about 11 when he was diagnosed at last. He shows the same symptoms still when he goes high or low.

The general symptoms of Diabetes are frequent urination, extreme thirst, fatigue, dizzy spells, weight loss, excessive hunger, blurred vision and it can alter your mental state/ability. Always a good idea to be checked as millions have undiagnosed Diabetes and it can have serious to fatal consequences.

Before I was diagnosed with diabetes, I felt lousy after eating sweets. I don't think that's one of the official symptoms, though.
