No chest pain should ever really be ignored. And yes gastric disorders can sometimes feel like chest pain. If you are experiencing chest pain and don't want to rush to the ER then try taking antiacids and see if the pain gets better. If you are have a heart attack you may have severe chest pain and it might feel as if someone is standing on your chest and you will have difficulty breathing. But as I have seen many times in the ER, people will come into the ER with minor chest pain and it be just gastric but sometimes when we suspect that it is gastric it is really a bad heart attack. So really you should never ignore ANY chest pain!

No chest pain should be ignored. There could be several causes including certain gastric disorders. Sometimes when people have heart attacks they vomit, so the two can be related. See a doctor asap.

chest pain that is crushing, spread over a wider area, and is associated with breathlessness and numbness in your arm, and which makes you really dizzy. any combination of the above can happen, and if you are diabetic or elderly, these might not be obvious.

gastric problems such as heartburn and stomach ulcers CAN feel like heart/chest pains although the stomach might seem very far away from your heart. if in doubt, go and see a doctor!
