I'm vegetarian and I want to be vegan so I'm trying to learn about veganism.

For me it would be eating out with non-veg friends. I don't wish to inconvenience them, yet at the same time I want to stick to my principles. And I rarely discuss food topics with them. Ocassionally when they talk about how good chicken is etc. I just keep quite and smile.

The other less hard problem is identifying vegan items in eateries. Sometimes the cook may not think of an ingredient as non-vegan and says you can eat it, but the ingredients may in fact be non-vegan.

Well nothing really!! I was n meat eater the one night, I took a look at Peta's videos and I was a vegan the next morning! I'm 100% vegan, and its not hard at all!! I guess it is the fact that I am an animal lover and every time I look at all my pets it just feels wrong thinking I have to eat something that thinks the same and love is companions just as much!! I love animals to much!!


My health has gone up, my art is better, actually I'm new person in all the good ways! All I can say is listen to your inner self, you know what right and wrong!! It all about will!!

Congratulations, dear! You are doing wonderful things for your health by becoming a vegan, as well as for our animal best buds AND our planet!

Years ago, the hardest part in becoming a vegan was what I had perceived to be an austere lifestyle. I pictured having to eat beans and rice together at every meal and having to buy wheelbarrels full of nuts, grains and legumes.

It never turned out like that. As long as you eat legumes once a day and a complimentary starch food (think rice or carrots or whole wheat pasta) once a day...you are getting ALL the amino acids and fabulous protein you need! Years ago I got out my old cookbook...the Betty Crocker one that I received when I turned 18...10+ years before and just started experimenting with my cooking. I'd substitute extra firm tofu and plant based products (think soymilk, for example and sesame butters, etc.) for any animal products in the recipes.

My kids were teens and I thought they'd really complain but I ended up with their friends coming over all the time for dinner, too! As a single mom with kids, it truly turned out to be a BARGAIN eating the vegan way! And...we all stayed healthy and slim while a lot of the other kiddoes and their parents plumped out on Mackey D's food!

So, take your leisurely time and experiment with recipes. Have fun in the kitchen, dear! You will be surprised how wonderful Auntie Mabel's fried chicken tastes even BETTER as your vegan tofu "chicken" strips!

My parents. That was it. But is was hard just being a human around them -- you know, they were very bad parents in general, long before I became vegan.

Otherwise, easy stuff. I had to weed through all sorts of scare propaganda though, but that sort of thing is easy to get past these days with the internet. When I started, nothing on the internet. I had to read book after book and find answers myself, but medical texts were saying stuff like, "vegetarians are very risky diets and must... otherwise..." Luckily it didn't make any sense to me and such things didn't 'scare' me at all.

If you eat alot of processed foods you should expect to be reading alot of labels.Vegan shoes and products are n't herd to find.I just buy Van's Rowley's(find them at any mall or Vans store) and go to http://caringconsumer.com/
for animal friendly products.It is a big lifestyle change but you get used after a while,it just becomes second nature.

eating out. like last night at resturant i asked NO CHEESE in my plate and after all he brought my food with toping cheese and i have to wait again to bring my food with no cheese. everybody else were done with there food and i just started eating my food.
I was so angry

Just other peoples ignorance.I don't tell them what they should be eating, but they sure as hell want to tell me what I should be eating!! I just smile, ignore and do my own thing!
