One more question. I had a chart for my doctor on my leveld. Fasting, I am usually at 90mg, but once at 160mg. I had re-tested to make sure and it give me the same result. My doctor was worried, but it hasn't happened since then. Could something just had been worng with me for only one day?

ANYTIME you go over 120..there is a cause for concern..reguardless of what you ate..or anything....and..also.. a FASTING blood sugar..being 90..that is on a high end for a fasting..kinda odd..anyhow..you are def. in the stages for "pre-diabetes"....watch your diet CLOSELY...and exercise.. Limit excess carbs and sugar...

Fasting should be between 90 and 110, ideally.

Yes, it's very possible something was wrong just that one day. You could have been mildly sick with a cold or flu and not even been aware, this will pump the blood sugar up.

You don't mention if you are Type 1 or type 2, but type 2, if their blood sugar dips down toward hypoglycemia, our livers dump sugar into our bloodstreams. If you had taken your meds shortly before bed, then gone to bed and your blood sugar dipped, it's possible your liver took over and pumped your BG up. That can hang around in the blood for a while.

BG should always be measured fasting because it is very sensitive to anything in your system. For this reason, even what you ate the day before has some say in the result if it is a slow release carbohydrate (such as some whole grains, some nuts, some veggies etc..).
If it did not happen again, there is nothing to worry about.

fasting can be anywhere from 90-130, certainly closer to 90 the better. If your sugar is high in the morning, look a how much carbohydrate you had the night before, or how late you ate a snack, or what you ate for a meal. It may have been those issues that increased your sugar that day.

I am sure you doctor will monitor you closely. It is very possible that something is wrong with your blood sugar and the possibility of diabetes is there. Ask your doctor...he/she will have the answer.
