Chances are that when you used to get the sugar it was in nibbling here and there. If this is true then you have cut out that snack. Don't cut it out. Eat something like cheese that has protein in it. There are even drinks like sugar free carnation breakfast that will fill you. You have cut down on your food intake by cutting out the sugar. Try to replace it with something with high protein.

Try cutting it slowly. While you do that, eat a lot of friuts, because they have natural sugar and fiber, which makes your blood sugar go up and down more gradually. Also try to eat whole grains and oatmeal. The starch breaks down into sugar eventually, but also enter your bloodstream more gradually.

Going cold turkey isn't always fun, just slowly cut it out, you need sugar to live, but excess sugar is bad. Just cut down on the sweets, be more concious about getting them. Don't go cold turkey and you won't feel the way you do.

You probably get exhausted because your body is riding you of the poison. You should eat natural sugars and proteins, that will stop the crash. Diabetes is an insidious disease, you can go blind, get cancer, high blood pressure, heart attack, stroke as well as have them start hacking off parts of your body- - -, think about what awaits you when you are reaching for that sugary treat. Splenda will satisfy the same need.

Do not cut it out completely, do it in baby steps a little bit at a time and wean yourself off of it and you may relapse some times do not give up keep trying till you are able to do it, get some one a friend, coworker, family member to do it with you if that would make it easier for you to do. Good luck.

Eat foods that are high in protein...or try bananas and fat free milk (or soy milk in my case) that's what I do when I get sugar cravings
