It would totally depend on how many calories of plant based foods you are eating! Eat 10,000 calories a day and you'll rapidly gain weight (since there is no chance you'd burn that many calories off).

Simple isn't it ;-)

For the most obvious reasons it would help. Not to say you are overweight, however, most people grab at straws when it comes to crunch time. I' not saying I'm any better, but I do know the benefit of a good, balanced diet. (Maybe I should follow it.) The easiest way is to stop chips, fried food, fast food, and sodas. If you are serious, start taking B-12, B-6, and vitamin C. These will help boost your metabolism and burn more calories, in hence, you will loose weight. Oh, by the way, Exercise helps immensely.

I can only go on my own experience, but when I went totally vegan I lost 43 lbs in about 6 months. I eat nothing from animals; I eat a lot of rice and beans, veggie burgers, and fresh steamed veggies. I also eat a lot of fresh fruit. I didn't change the quantity of food I eat, only the content, and it not only helped me to go from 208 to 165, but it has helped my digestion tremendously. I take medications which used to make me constipated, but I no longer have a problem with that.

Veganism isn't a miracle weight-loss diet. It's just another way of eating.

If you do go vegan for two weeks, though, and like your results, maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to stay vegan, eh? :)

Oh, and adam p and karakittle are idiots. Contrary to what some idiots might tell you, you can get all the protein you need from plants.

you would still need to exercise and take a multi-vitamin. the problem with vegan diets is that you are not getting enough amino acids required for your body to function normally, so a diet that contains baked meat and fish like salmon is appropriate. as much as veganism is a lifestyle, it is not for children. but if you choose to be vegan just consider all the pros and cons and remember that it is not just about how much or how little, it is exercise also.
