What is a PP blood sugar ?
149 is no big deal. One hi reading means nothing.
Just keep monitoring.
Talk to your doctor if you are worried.
It's amazing how scared people get when they have so little information.
Please educate yourself.
Be Well

Hello. I'm a type one diabetic.so I may be able to explain this to you..
ok..normal blood sugar ranges from 70-110. If your glucose..is running at 149...(especially if this is a fasting blood sugar reading) then you are definately in the developmental stages of "pre-diabetes". What you can do as of now..is watch your diet carefully and exercise. You may want to limit your intake of sugars as well as carbohydrates. You need carbohydrates daily, but....not in excess. Get plenty of exercise. Also, purchase a blood meter...you should check your sugar (2 hours) after each meal..record your readings..if you are above 120 (2 hrs) after eating a meal..then you have a significance for diabetes. You should then proceed to your health care...they may want to start treatment.

Ask yourself some simple questions first.
1) Do I drink soda drinks a lot (Mountain dew, pepsi, coca cola, coffee...)
2) Do I constantly eat sugary "snack" candy foods at work?
3) Do I get enough exercise?
4) Am I bombarded by stress or other factors?
5) Does diabetes (or other health problems) run in the family?
This is only a -basic- list, but some of these things you can control and monitor yourself. Talk to your doctor. You don't need Mountain Dew to make it through!

Is Post-prandial immediately after eating? I wouldn't worry in that case. If it's 2-3 hours after, it's a bit high, and if you see it a bunch of times you should discuss with your doctor. How are your H1ac levels? An occasional spike is less to be worried about than your overall averages.

You really need to see your Doctor. Your on the high end of the scale. Don't panic, they may consider you "borderline" diabetic, which is easily controlled through diet, but you have to put the effort forward to make that change. For instance, watching your carb intake, sugar intake etc. Good luck to you.

Don't panic, and don't jump the conclusion too soon.Repeat the test;need real fasting;at list 12 hours not eating(can drinks water) before blood taken, and should very clam..Adrenal and thyroid hormone can raise your blood sugar.Lab error is very common.
