My boyfriend's don't hurt, but they burn a little or sting. He's usually never in a lot of pain. I think each person is a little different and men's might not hurt as much as women's because there is less contact with their genitals (as far as wiping, tampon/pad usage etc) than a woman's.
The person above is correct, a normal STD test does not test for herpes. Also you can get a false negative or positive. It's best to usually have the herpes test done twice for proper verification. Let him speak to his doctor about that. They will also be able to tell him if they are HSV1 or HSV2, HSV1 genitally from what I understand are a little less painful, but just the same contagious.

Yes herpes hurt, it feel like a cigarette burn.
If a Dr. isn't testing specifically for herpes they can miss the virus.
I would suggest getting tested again and this time have them check specifically for herpes.
Hope this helps and good luck.

Yes, Herpes hurts very much. The blisters happen, however, they can also look like a very large zit w/a whitehead. When they burst, then they are very painful and contagious. However, there are other STDs and non-STDs that could cause pain. Your husband should go and get a full STD test. If those are all negative, then go see the doctor ASAP.

Cold sores are caused by the herpes virus. Many of us already have the cold sore virus dormant in our bodies, and never have a flare up of cold sores. We contracted it as children, as it is a very common virus, and children pick it up easily as they often share food and drinks, and may be less concerned about hand washing and hygiene. Cold sores can be transmitted even when the person does not have a cold sore, though it is less likely to happen then.
remember that you can remove genital warts by surgery, freezing, laser, acid or cream but genital warts can reappear again and again because genital warts appears when your immune system is weak!
I got diagnosed with herpes type 2 about seven years ago, when I was still in college and had a stupid one-night stand. However, Not only was I able to remove all traces of the herpes virus from my system in less than three weeks, but I was also able to start dating again!

Mine don't hurt, but I notice right before a breakout the muscle wall down there really aches. I just feels very itchy, like I have poison ivy down there:(
He needs to ask them to test for herpies, most time std's tests don't include herpies. Special clinics do it, and it is still not as accurate as taking a culture test from the sore itself. If he has a sore, or you said red bumps, his normal doctor could take a herpes culture. The blood test is alot harder to get.

Herpes is the worst feeling you can ever have down under, it feels like someone ignighted a fire under your vagina. My dr. missed it and i'm pregnant and just before my first outbreak I went to the OB/GYN and had a bunch of test ran, blood taken, cultures sampled and all that other stuff. This is a virus that you won't know until it shows itself.
