How come that HIV virus could survive in an infected needle or syringe if it is outside the body since..?

since the virus dies fast in an outside enviroment or exposed to air ?

The virus thrives in moist or wet conditions and not dry ones.It can stay for several hours in wet ir moist conditions but not for a second in dry conditions.
