I know that baby chicken eggs, and eggs that we eat are diffrent. The one that we eat has been through a process, but what about vegetarian eggs, how come they don't hatch if they haven't been through the traditional process. I eat vegetarian eggs mainly because I am a vegetarian and, I read the box and its says it hasn't been through any "bad" process, no hormones and e.t.c, so why don't they hatch?

Actually an egg from a bird is like a human egg. It basically the chickens period and their egg is just solid, but not fertilized so it will not develop into a chivk. Vegetarian eggs mean they were VEGETARIAN FED!! that means the chickens eat seeds and other natural things, not animal by products. A lot of what is fed to animals have animal by products in it (thats how mad cow disease is spread, a cow eating cow) it is no different with chickens. Corperations jsut want to pump out the eggs not worry about what is natural for a chicken to eat.

Eggs require a cockerel to fertilise the hen a day before the egg is laid.
Hatcheries do not have cockerels.
I should know, I'm a cockerel ( see picture )
by "vegetarians eggs" you are probably reading the hens are fed on a vegetarian diet. This is incorrect husbandry and you shoud not buy these eggs, chickens are not vegetarian. The best eggs to buy are freerange eggs from a farm or somewhere that you can see the hens in freerange, outside, open pasture conditions.

Just like in humans (and other animals) not all of the eggs are fertilized, and thus, no chicken is formed. The reason why they're called vegetarian eggs is because of what the chicken laying the egg is fed: they're fed only natural oats, germs, etc, as opposed to hormones, chemicals and such.

What process? Any egg available to you in the supermarket are unfertilized. A vegetarian egg comes from hens that only eat vegetarian foods (grains etc)...thats the only difference.

Vegetarian eggs are from chickens that have been fed something to make them lay eggs . It is not a natural process of laying eggs for chicken.
A sort of artificial egg.

Not so difficult to understand,simple biology at work,these eggs,so called vegetarian are laid by hens that haven't been in the same pen as a rooster,in other words they are infertile eggs.These eggs do not have the two contributing factors necessary for any progeny,that is the male & female componant.

Because the egg without the mother sitting on them and keeping them warm, they die. Like all birds eggs. There is no difference between the eggs accept what the chicken is fed. Im sure they all get bugs ect. so are they really vegetarian?
