OK, I love animals, i have 3 dogs and 3 fish (piranha, jack dempsey) but i eat steak, chicken, beef etc. But now I hear that we shouldnt use animals for entertainment. Isnt that why we have pets? to entertain us and make us happy while making them happy? i hunt, and fish. I just think the PETA is a joke.

Nope. PETA has given me a lot of useful information over the years, good foods, names of restaurant chains that are veg friendly and those who have hidden dead animal in their foods. They have given me a list of foods that are accidentally vegan, links to a lot of organizations and new information on brands that do terrible things to animals.

I appreciate having that information.

They do go a little overboard, like some members go to extremities saying have pets is wrong. Where else are the animals supposed to go? I am against eating meat, but thats because I feel its wrongs to breed an animal just so it will die, unlike in the wild where the animal is born and lives it life normal and if it dies then w.e., its natuaral selection. Also I think meat eating should be left to the animals that have to do it to survive, whereas humans can easily make up there diet of veggies and non animal products. Im not against meat eaters, I just personally choose to not eat meat.

Me thinks your hypocritical morals are confused:

"OK, I love animals, i have 3 dogs and 3 fish (piranha, jack dempsey) but i eat steak, chicken, beef etc. But now I hear that we shouldnt use animals for entertainment. Isnt that why we have pets? to entertain us and make us happy while making them happy? i hunt, and fish. I just think the PETA is a joke."

Do you have any clue how that sounds ?

In what way is slaughtering a cow, sheep or pig in abusive conditions "loving" animals. Is it a real love-in fest for you when you force pets to obey an "owner" ?

entertainment/pets ? Yes thats why YOU have pets. Not the rest of us, we have more respect for animals because we love animals.

What part of yanking a fish out of water with a hook is "loving" it ?

I do not agree with PETA's methods of demonstration.
But your question just about confirms the need for PETA.

I love how they support proper treatment of even the littlest cutties (like hamsters, rats, gerbils and rabbits in the back to many pet store that make me cry when i see how mistreated they are.) That is something many people ignore and its good PETA doesnt, however i find it very contradictory when they support euthanasia for dogs and cats, thats disgusting!!!! I dont support them because they think its okay to end an animals life for the most ridiculous reason: because they are unwanted and they're too many.

I certainly do not condone any cruelty towards animals of any kind. And I think that the human beings ( if they're to be called that ) who commit such atrocities against animals should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

But I also believe in the tradition of hunting, fishing, and the processing of meat for human consumption. There is nothing wrong with that, and I don't think people ought to be forced to become vegetarians, as PETA thinks it should be.

PETA takes a good cause, of protecting animals from cruelty, and pushes it to the point of being ridiculous. There is a time when you take an issue to far, and they do.

I've read stories on their website that were absolutely laughable.

I think that animal testing is cruel. I think that cruelty to domestic animals is wrong. I think cruelty to wild animals is wrong, but I do make one exception, and that is licensed, wildlife managed, legal hunting and fishing.

PETA may have started out well, but now they have pretty much made themselves into a laughing stock.

obviously, by posting this question in the veggie section, you are just hoping to get a rise out of people-pretty mean spirited and immature, tho it may be. I will just say that there is an Indian legend that says when a person dies, there is a bridge between them and heaven, and before the person can cross the bridge into heaven, they must encounter all of the animals they have ever encountered in their life, and the animals decide who gets to cross the bridge. Enjoy your next tasty animal.

I'd just like to say that you seem a bit too enthusiastic about dissing PETA in the section where PETA-supporters are most likely to hang out.

And if "animals entertainment" means what I think it means...

Um its pretty selfish to think you are SOO much better then animals. Because a dog is smartert then a 3 month old human, and most mentally handicapped adults. We dont eat or test on them just because they are "stupid".
African Americans, Japanese, Native Americans, they didn't speak our language but do we have a right to eat them? Enslave them? And do Barbaric tests? A bird can speak english, and the dolphins language is more complicated with individual words and scentances then English.

So what REALLY sets apart a human from an animal??? Compasion?? well I have seen lions who love lambs, Elephants who sing songs to their infants, animals who mourn other animals when they dies, and a Cat who carred for baby chicks...I don't think is compasion.

How about greed??? An animal takes what it needs to survive, and uses it for survival. Humans are inharently selfish, they take and take, kill, and kill, destroy and destroy all for personal gain and entertainment.A human would murder another for a rock or a pice of paper with george Washiontons face. They will destroy their own support sustem so they can have the hottest newest thing, only to die in 70 years to leave a mess for the next people and animals.

On the specific area of PETA, they do lots of bad things (i don't know about the naked posing and all that stuff) but so do lots of other organizations and they aren't considered "looney". They also do lots of good things which aren;t published in the news because the news doesn't care if they sent hundreds of people down to New Orleans to help out or that they worked with the state to stop Beavers from building damns in rivers which in turn would flood road ways. While you may only expose yourself to the mass medias view of things that only goes to show how un educated you are on the organization. They aren't my top vegetarian group list, I am not a memebr and don't really support them but They are not horrible.

No, as a matter of fact I have the utmost respect for PETA. Many people think of them as a joke, that is true, but many people respect them.

At least someone is trying to help things insuperior (word? lol) to them, such as animals. Have you even watched the videos on there? Have you seen the pictures? Do you KNOW the full story?

If you haven't and don't, then you have no idea about anything. I say this not to be rude, but because it just is.
