Yes, you can become infected with Herpes. However, you can also not get infected. My husband and I have been together for 5 years and he still has not gotten it. If your partner is educated and willing to take the medicine and precautions, then you may not have to worry. I was told by my doctor, that my nervous system and chocolate affects my outbreaks. Luckily, I don't eat much chocolate.

Yes, there isn't any. Herpes is caused by a virus. Actually, there is little cure for viruses nowadays. The only thing that you can generally do in the case of a viral infection is strengthen the immune system and hope it fights it off. Not with Herpes, the immune system can't win against it. Thus you only get to treat the symptoms. Once you're infected, it stays with you for life. So don't get infected.
Personal experience. I have had genital herpes for over 5 years.

I got clinically diagnosed with herpes virus (type 2) about five years ago, whilst I was still attending college and had a stupid one-night stand. I know loads of people say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a massive mistake that one time and suddenly I felt like I was going to have to live with the implications for the rest of my life. The hardest part was feeling I could never date guys again. After all, who wants to go out with someone that has sores around her private parts? But since a friend shared this video https://tr.im/4oEKi everything changed.
Not only was I able to eliminate all remnants of the herpes simplex virus from my system in less than 21 days, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met the guy of my dreams and I'm so blessed to write that just a week ago, in front of everyone in a crowded restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me! This system provided me the chance to be happy and experience true love again. Now I want to help others too by sharing this story.

There is a chance of becoming infected with either type, but that also means there is a chance you won't become infected. And keep in mind that they don't have to be having an outbreak at the moment for you to get the disease, they are always contagious (just more so when they have actual sores). Also keep in mind that both kinds (type I and type II) can cause sores anywhere. If they have type II on their genitals and you have your mouth down there, you could get cold sores as a result (even though that is more commonly from type I). So yes, both types are contagious (but type I likes the mouth better and type II likes the gentials better and therefore causes a worse infection there).

It's possible not to get herpes with direct contact, but herpes is very easily spread, so it's highly likely that the infection will be spread. If someone has a cold sore on his/her cheek, that person can spread it kissing someone like he/she would kiss his/her grandmother.

Yes, type one can be passed on by cold sores and can be passed on through the mouth or the mouth touching genitalia. Type 2 is the one that can be passed on by close sexual confrontation.

As soon as there is direct contact examples kissing, sex, sharing drinks, sharing cigs, or anything that has fluid on it can be passed on. It's very contagies. Stay away from anyone that has it.
