Figs are about average in sugar content when compared to other fruits. That being said, fig leaves are supposed to help insulin work better. I read where a study was done with a juice made from fig leaves that helped lower the need for insulin. I also read where blueberry leaves slow the release of glucose into the bloodstream.

Dried figshave sugar content but it is natural and would then become an exchange or two for your diet. Ask your Dr. or call the diabetic association in the morning. They will know for sure. I feel it is ok but they are better educated in this than I am. Each person is different also. So, make the call to an expert first. Good luck.

dried fuit sometimes has added sugar. check packaging if available. another thing to consider is that dried fruits are smaller than undried fresh fruit (look at grapes and raisins) so people often eat 'too much' dried fruit in a sitting. i'm guessing here, but it seems like 3 or 4 dried figs would be one fruit serving.

Dried fruit has more sugar than fresh fruit since it is concentrated.
Check the carbo levels and incorperate it into your diet plan.
