I was using this machine that measures your breathing rate - it records it automatically while you breathe (forgot what it was called but whatever). You have to put the pipe all the way into your mouth and I was the last one to use it. The pipe thing was sterilized in a liquid for 1 minute before I used it(the teacher just left it in the liquid). When I put the pipe into my mouth the sterilizing liquid on the pipe got into my mouth too. It tasted rank so I drank some fruit shoot to get rid of it. How long does it take for a sterilzing liquid to kill hiv? and by drinking the sterilizing liquid away does it do anything (the sterilizing liquid won't continue to kill the virus in my mouth anymore if it is gone?)?

I know they are stupid questions but just answer them anyway if you can.

First off, you can't get HIV from the saliva of an infected person. If there was some chance that there was a small amount of the virus on the tube, though you haven't stated if the people who used it prior had HIV, itid be dead before you put the tube in yuor mouth. The person would have to have an open mouth sore for there to be any of the virus on the tube in the first place. Plus, the virus only survives for a few minutes when it's outside the body and not in a large amount of blood or other fluid. You'll be fine. There's nothing to worry about.

You're worrying about a virus that can't survive long outside the body.

Worry about Gonorrhea or Chlamydia instead.
