Sometimes, there are no symptoms, but usually, the symptoms show up around 4-6 weeks after infection. Symptoms are: Fever, night sweats, rashes, swolen lymph glands, unproductive coughs.

All of those symptoms don't show up at once, or they simply don't show up together.

If you're not sure if you have HIV, find out the sexual history of your last partner and also GET TESTED!!!!!!!!!!

You can get an oral test from your local doctor, if you don't like needles.

And in this day and age, there are pills called Highly Active AntiRetroviral Treatment (HAART) that will keep you alive for about 20 years.

Don't delay. Well, actually, delay. Wait until 3 months after your last sexual contact to get tested.

Cold and Flu like symptoms, but most don't recall having symptoms early on. Most will develop detectable HIV antibodies within 25 days of exposure to the virus but could take up to 90 days.

Some people (note: not all) do experience a flu-like illness within a few weeks of exposure. This can include headache, fever, muscle aches, etc (though, these symptoms are far more often due to the actual flu or similar other infection).

Most are asymptomatic after infection until immunodeficiency starts predisposing to infection years later.

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection results from 1 of 2 similar retroviruses (HIV-1 and HIV-2) that destroy CD4+ lymphocytes and impair cell-mediated immunity, increasing risk of certain infections and cancers. Initial infection may produce nonspecific febrile illness. The risk of subsequent manifestations—related to immunodeficiency—is proportional to the level of CD4+ lymphocytes. Manifestations range from asymptomatic carriage to the acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS), which is defined by serious opportunistic infections or cancers. HIV infection is diagnosable by antibody or antigen testing. Treatment aims to suppress HIV replication by combinations of drugs that inhibit HIV enzymes.

There are no early symptoms. You need to read up on HIV. You wouldn't even test positive (IF you have it) for at least 6 months after contact.
