NO Don't do this. You'll be consuming way too much fiber and you'll consume way too many minerals and certain vitamins which will give you damaging diarrhea... Diarrhea will then dehydrate you. Now, you'll lose weight if this is what you're looking for, but you'll suffer serious damage.

The only 100% healthy and most effective way on losing weight and keeping it off and being healthy in the long term is eating every 2-3 hours. You'll eat a good breakfast with fiber and carbs or something (like cereal, banana, and orange juice). A few hours later you'll have a snack (like wheat thins or a low fat yogurt). Then a few more hours later you'll have lunch (Small ham, chicken, or turkey sandwich, small bag of chips, maybe an apple, diet soda or something small). A few more hours and its time for another small snack. And then dinner a few hours later (small steak and vegetables and water or something). You'll never be hungry, you'll have tons of energy as long as you don't stuff yourself, and you can lose weight gradually if you do something as little as walking around the block everyday. You'll lose more weight if you work out more effectively.

An all fruit diet is NOT GOOD AT ALL.

No, you'd die of malnutrition. While bananas are very good for you, they're lacking in many key nutrients. You need a balanced diet. You cannot live on just fruit and expect to be healthy.

For example, without a certain amount of fat in your diet, your hair will start falling out, your skin will dry out and start cracking and your finger nails will start to fall apart. You will also burn off all the yellow fat in your body, leaving only the brown fat, which your body will also start to burn. The brown fat is what insulates your organs. Without it, you die. Ever heard of Bruce Lee? He ate a very, very low fat diet and exercised fanatically. He was so conditioned that he burned into his brown fat. It caused massive heart failure.

Nuts and avocados are wonderful, healthy sources of the fat your body needs. Nuts are also a great source of protein, which you also need. Your brain runs on protein. Remember that. Grab a bag of edamame, some cashews or a block of tofu!

You need to study big time to be a fruitarian. I wouldn't go there- Try just wholefood diet if you want to be healthy- seaweed, macrobiotic stuff. You need diversity. Bananas don't have vit B12 and I am sure they are lacking in other areas. It sounds like you just want to simplify your diet rather than be healthy. Look into macrobiotic and eat some millet, quinoa and exotic grains. Verrrry healthy indeed. Buy the book/DVD at www.ravediet.com and/or check out the whole health expo at www.vegsource.com

A whole food is something not processed and foods in their natural state. Bananas do not contain everything the body needs to function properly.

I do not think that anybody could survive on one type of food alone, because eventually they would lack a sufficient amount of vitamins that you can only gain by eating a proper diet which includes fruits and vegetables of all kinds. I wouldnt mind eating a diet of watermelon though, it tastes great but tis full of nothing but water. Hope this helps hun, take care!

interesting (speaking of what enlightenment said) i heard that beyonce used the water, lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper drink diet. Oh i knew it was unhealthy but luckily she is back to a healthy diet.
as for your question, sometimes i feel i can live on bananas lol, but no, bananas are a good food and they are a great snack, but it does not have everything certainly. It can be your favorite food and you can eat it a lot but you cant live on it sorry.

You need more then fruit in your diet. Things like proteins and fats, not to mention nutrients that only other nuts and veggies can give. Before you do such an odd thing, discuss this with your doctor.

No you cannot just survive on bananas. the only other thing besides meat that offers the 8 essential amino acids that we need to survive would be soybeans.
