The unfortunate thing about ashtma is that it is a chronic disease and you cannot get rid of it. However, you can manage and control it so that your symptoms are not noticeable and do not interfere with your daily life..

To do that you must remove any allergens from your home and learn what things trigger your asthma and avoid them. Often it is necessary to take medicines to control your asthma. A bronchodialator will open your lungs and stop an attack when it starts. An inhaled steroid will reduce any inflamation in your lungs and prevent you from having an asthma attack. Allergy shots can also help to minimize reactions (although they are such a pain!)

Often hormonal changes like puberty or menopause will minimize symptoms for several years, or even decades so you may be able to reduce or even stop taking any medications. However, it is highly likely that the asthma will return as you grow older.

The best thing you can do is find a doctor that specializes in the treatment of asthma. My son is 13 and has had very severe asthma all his life but throughtthe right combination of medicines he is able to live an active, normal life.

You do not say how old are you, what type of asthma you do have, for how long you have been having asthma, so it is difficult to say wether yu will get rid of asthma, the thing that I learnt is that asthma should be prevented by regular intake of steroids specially in children, the fewer the attacks the less asthma in adulthood. Also a diet rich in fruits, vegetables especially dark green, onions especially red ones, garlic, ginger. Also avocado rich in natural fat that helps to soften the airways, plenty of water and believe me one small spoon of extra virgin olive oil preferably organic and the one that comes in dark bottle not plastic, is expensive but it is worth it! in case you cannot swallow it just mix it with your saladas or with boiled potatoes, delicious!. I am sure you will feel if not totally cured of asthma at least much better!

My brother is an asthmatic and after ten years his asthma has shown no sign of improving. He has been to several doctors but they didn't help much.

If you want a proven, all-natural way to cure your asthma, without having to pay for useless medications with harmful side-effects, then this is the most important page you'll ever read.

Have you tried eliminating dairy from your diet? I suffered my whole life with asthma until I stopped consuming dairy and started taking small doses of natural ephedrine...this is the one I use:

Also...explore this website:

The first step is BELIEVING that you can and will be well...that you do not NEED meds for the rest of your life...and that you WILL breathe normally again!!!

You'll see!!

I'm very healthy now and there was a time when I could barely get up a flight of stairs without losing my breath....the toxins in dairy are a direct link to breathing problems...also a lack of sunlight and dependency on meds only makes matters worse.

I wish you the BEST !!!!!!!

Great advice from Susi

There is a treatment for asthma that apparently helps very quickly. You don't say how bad your asthma is but you might be interested....

Thre is an herbal supplement called BioVent that is very helpful in controlling the symptoms of asthma. May be worth mentioning to your doctor to see what he thinks.

The only sure way is to remove the allergen thats causing it (assuming its an allergen based asthma). Not always practical though.
