Tahini is sesame paste... Most supermarkets (check your local Kroger) sell JOYVA brand and it's usually stocked in the flour/baking aisle. The sesame paste is in about a 3" high can by 4" diameter round. I believe the can is white, brown and orange... see link below for picture of the can.

You can find Hummus in the imported food section of most better grocery stores and in all healthfood stores along with any stores that sell middle eastern food products. I live in BFE West Virginia and I can get it at Kroger's and the Healthfood store.

Love Hummus have fun making it. Use Lots of Garlic. MMMMMM

Tahini is sesame seed paste. Sesame paste goes rancid very quickly.

For a better hummus, although not as authentic, try almond or cashew butter. (ground almonds or cashews).

Most large grocery chains carry tahini, or try Whole Foods.
If not, try Greek or Middle Eastern stores.

I make hummus all the time. I make mine with peanut butter and sesame oil. It's just about the same thing. Give it a try !!!

Many places.Even Fiesta(off katy freeway@echo lane) has Tahini.Look in their middle eastern section.There is Phoenecia Imports (by Westheimer and Kirkwood) Or Droubis on Hillcroft and Westheimer.
