I have been ill for almost a month. I have seen different Dr.'s and on Wednesday I am seeing a surgeon because they believe the pain and vomiting stems from scar tissue from my gallbladder surgery back in 1995. What concerns me is in the last week and a half I have developed serious heart palapitations. I was diagnosed back in 2000 w/a leaky heart valve. Can any of this be tied together. Other symptoms, vomiting, dizziness, cold sweats, and pain in my chest. I'm only 32.

I have had MVP all my life, and I'm 13. It's a condition as to where your heart is beating, but not in a rhythm. it's a disease that makes you dizzy, and gives you headaches. I have experienced all of this repeatedly, so take my word for it.

I'm really sorry to hear about your problems. I'm sure the body all works together, so these issues can all be inter-related. The new symptoms of sweating, pain and dizziness almost sound like an infection of some kind- flu or "stomach bug".
Another cause of heart palpitations-- especially if you wake up with a racing heart-- can be high levels of the "stress hormone" cortisol, which is due to a hormone imbalance. Then again, some times this can be caused by food allergies or an unhealthy diet. A lot of times, doctors can't "find anything" and you just have to start unraveling your own story. Start with the diet, and just keep searching.

PS- If you're the same person who wrote about having 3 kids, your tubes tied, and period problems, I'd definitely suggest you see an endocrinologist.

Palpitations can occur for a variety of reason. Everything from cardiac arrythmias to thyroid disease. A good plan of action is to see a Cardiologist to have your symptoms evaluated. Take time to be prepared to answer many questions as the evaluation of palpitations can be detailed in nature. the Doctor may do an EKG, and Echocardiogram, oa 24 Holter monitor etc. Let the Doctor know what kind of medications you are taking. Some Cardiologists will prescribe Inderal for benign palpitations, but treatment does not usually begin until after extensive evaluation.

you mentioned a leaky heart valve, I'm assuming it's mitral prolapse. Often times palpations occur with this, which is very uncomfortable. A cardiologist will determine the types of arrhythmias you are having, and which meds will be best for you. Some beta blockers for this might be Inderal, Atenolol, Nadolol, etc. Make sure you have some blood work done (CBC) and your thyroid checked. Ask for an ECHO (ultrasound) test too. It will show how your heart muscle and valves are working. Good luck! Stay healthy with vitamins!
