congratulations!!!
try real hard not to give into the urge!! it is a tough thing to do but you can do it, just try a peppermint each time you get the urge!the cravings don't last too long, everyone is different, for me now, they are just a half second, no problem at all and i live with a smoker, to me, it's just like a quick thought, I've been off for 13 months now, you CAN do it but if you slip , it's OK, just try again, these other times will just be practice for you.smoking is the hardest drug to give up, don't let it be stronger than you though!!
congratulations again and good luck!! you know you can do it!!

Well, first of all - congratulations! Making the decision to quit and actually doing so is commendable. The first week is definitely the most difficult, so getting through these first seven days is crucial. You might want to change your daily routine, avoid situations/places where smoking is likely, exercise (think fresh air!), eat healthy snacks, and/or chew nicotine gum. Whatever you do - keep yourself occupied to avoid the urge to smoke.

Rest assured - the cravings will subside a little bit every day. How long it takes depends on the person. Usually, the worst is over after the first week. Try to follow the tips mentioned above and in the following article: http://heart.health.ivillage.com/smokingcessation/smokingcessation4.cfm. That coupled with patience and a hefty dose of will power (remember: the mind is a very powerful thing!) is the key to your success! Good luck!

The worse cravings come in the first 3 days!!! Don't give in, you're gonna make it!!!

You'll get cravings for a long time, probably most often when you're around one of your "triggers" (drinking, other people that smoke, shooting pool, whatever you associate with smoking in your previous smoking life).

Remember that the worst craving lasts for about 3 minutes. You can do ANYTHING for 3 minutes, even resisting that nasty cigarette.
Congratulations on your healthier life. You'll feel so much better.

It has been scientifically proven that nicotine is out of the system after 4 days therefore you should no longer physically feel a craving after 4 days.

For your physical craving, that will probably wear off in one more day. But as for your psychological addiction, that takes more work. Basically, you need to be committted to quitting. Don't do it just because other people are telling you to quit, etc. Do it for yourself.

Clinical studies have shown that it takes at least 3 weeks to be cured from smoking so you just have to abstain from smoking and gut it out. Good luck. Have to do the same myself.
