If you haven't tried masala dosa you should like that.
Also, one of my favorite Indian dishes is Malai Kofta (fried veggie dumplings in a creamy tomato sauce). Delicious!

The nicest Indian dish I have tried is Raan.It is a leg of lamb mariated in spices toghurt and stuff for over 48 hours prior to cooking. The meat just falls off the bone.Unfortunately I haven't seen itin many restaurants. If you want a mild curry then I would reccomend a good Chicken Biryani, a kind of Indian savoury rice with lovely subtle flavours.

Certain Indian restaurants allow you choose the level of spiciness. If so, go with a mild Chicken Tikka Misala. A safe bet is Chicken Korma (YUM!) and my favorite is Chicken Akbari, very mild, and full of flavor. Top it off with Pilau rice and a garlic naan!

My local curry house does a curry called a chicken tika makon mali.
They put a little bit of cheese in the sauce. Yep, sounds weird but everyone I know who has tried it has never gone back to a different curry. I have never seen it in another curry house and I don't think indians even eat cheese(???) so i'm not sure how well known it is.

Biryani is mellow and a good benchmark if you've never been to a particular Indian restaurant before. Though I have had occasions where the veg curry was hotter than the so called rocket fuel vindaloo sauce (Telford).
