Really, the only way to stop the spread of AIDS is a cure and a vaccine. Short of that, you are going to continue to have this problem, no matter what you think you're accomplishing by whatever you do. Abstinance? Get real.

Yup Clive is correct, abstinence is the only way to stop it from being sexually transmitted, as for needles, and drug use, that's a little tougher. So propper sterilization and sanitation would be necessary.
As for killing everyone... that's not feesable, as the virus can lie dormant in a person for a long, long time before popping up, so there may be millions of people who test negative right now, but in five or ten years they may not.

Would it work? possibly....Hitler would have loved the guy who said that......
To me, a more logical approach would be REAL sex education. Parents here are under the assumption that if we tell kids more about sex, they are more likely to have it. WRONG. The fact is, families who are open about the physical dangers (and emotional turmoil) attached with "underage" sex have children who wait longer to lose thier virginities. I have worked in STD clinics and it is SO sad to hear the things these teens don't understand. In Africa (I believe Uganda is the country making some of the biggest strides) in safer sex classes, but being very real about the fact that it is merely SAFER sex, not safe. Its good to teach abstinence as the best form, but in this day and age, children are having sex. We need to let them know what they are getting themselves into, preferably before it starts. In Uganda, not only have HIV rates dived, but also the number of people practicing pre marital sex or extramarital affairs.....Monogamy has a new status in their society. Maybe we could look at what they have done and not be afraid to try a more direct approach.

AIDS is not the problem. The problem is HIV....HIV stand for human immunodeficiency virus......That's the virus that can cause the syndrome AIDS AIDS stands for accquired immunodeficiency syndrome.
People can have HIV and not have AIDS....please be clear on the difference.
You would have to kill every person and/or living thing with HIV. The likelihood of being able to do that is almost zero.
IN theory, yes, that would work. Once you kill off the virus, it cannot produce itself. However, one has to ask...where did it come from in the first place.....?

No it won't. Because u r killing the hosts. Now for starters we don't know the actual number of hosts. Second the virus is primarly bred in the monkeys and then it has spread to other animals. Only way is to make the vaccine public, since FDA already has it.

If people stopped having sexual intercourse with people that have or carry AIDS it would seriously minimize the spread. Rarely is it spread through blood transfusions anymore.
