I love it!! I first had dim sum in SF too. (Was it a place on Geary?) Anyway, my husband had NEVER heard of it. I swear I'm taking him out for dim sum one of these days.

Dim sum, touch of heart. Yes, that's something almost everyone loves.

Traditional dim sum is Har Gau (steamed Prawn dumplings) shio mai (steam pork dumplings), char siu pau (bbq pork bun ala chinese) and of course so many other. Dim sum should be enjoyed with the whole family seated on a round table, chatting away, discussing and sharing, just like tea for the English. While the usual beverage is pu-er, a rather dark chinese tea, it's suppose to "wash off" whatever oil that comes with the dim sum, as you know, the dim sums are quite oily, some might enjoy a cup of jasmine tea or oo-long. Whichever the choice of tea, it's still good for the entire family to be sharing their time together.

DUDE! dim-sum is great! but to aviod disappointment in the mornings just go down to your nearest chinese cash and carry and by a truck load full, you will never have to ask a question like this ever again!

But be warned you may get fat.

:D

Yeah! Scrumptious!

You know you can get some ready-to-steam / microwavable packets of them, if they're available in your local supermarket or Asian supermarket. Check in the frozen foods section. :)
(Warning: packaged ones only good as a temporary measure for cravings, not to be gauged against the real thing from restaurants)
