Hi, I just recently turned twelve and last night I watched this movie about this girl who was diabetic(who just happened to have the same name as me). I was wondering if you were young and you can't go to the doctor how would you know if you were diabetic?? I don't know if I have high blood sugar but I probably do. Sometimes I have a sharp pain in my right foot like in a vain. But anyway are there any test that get done when you're really small that would let you know??

A blood test would definitely answer your question. There are two blood tests: A1c test and SMBG. The latter can be done by you with a tester sold at a drugs store. Drop by a pharmacy and talk with a pharmacist to get the right type. SMBG is blood sugar monitoring.

I hope you'll be able to seek medical attention on this matter. Until then stay away from sodas and all food items that are loaded with sugar. Unfortunately, most foods sold in this country have too much sugar in them.

Best of luck and hope you'll feel better.

I am writing to tell you what an incredible impact these methods had on my life! I have had type 2 diabetes for 27 years. For me, the worst part of this horrible disease is the severe pain I constantly get in my feet. The pain is so bad that I avoid standing and walking as much as possible. I've got to tell you that within the first month, my feet stopped hurting altogether and I can now walk totally pain free.

Believe it or not, I even danced at my niece's wedding last month, something I have not done in a many years. I've been following the book for six months now and my blood sugar is well within normal range. I feel great!

I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

Hello. I am a type one diabetic...I'm 18..I've had this for 8 years now..so....I'll share my symptoms with you..

...You should be concerned if:

- You are drinking sooooooo much...(like....rediculous amounts) and urinating ....ALOT.
- You feel sluggish or tired..or notice any changes with your energy level.
- You get intense muscle cramps from the dehydration
- You have dry/cracked skin
- You lose your appetite
- Lose weight

... a week before I was diagnosed..I was drinking sooo much..it was very unusual...I would wake up 4 and 5 times a night just to pee....I would wake up with excruciating pain in my legs from the cramps.. I then lost ALL of my energy...I could NOT eat whatso ever..and I lost 12 lbs in 3 days..I was nearly in a coma when I arrived at the ER.

- My advice is...stay in shape..eat a healthy diet....because.. type 2 can be avoided...(obesity wise)....but however..type one can strike ANYONE...

Got a relative with diabetes? Ask them if they will test your blood. It only costs like 50 cents, and it's kind of cool. In any case, talk to your mom or dad about it. You probably don't have it, but it doesn't hurt to ask!

DIABETES--DEFINITION
Diabetes mellitus is impaired insulin secretion by the pancreas and variable degrees of peripheral insulin resistance leading to hyperglycemia (high blood sugar). Early symptoms are related to hyperglycemia and include polydipsia (excessive thirst), polyphagia (excessive hunger and abnormally large intake of solids by mouth), and polyuria (excessive urination). Later complications include vascular disease, peripheral neuropathy, and predisposition to infection. Diagnosis is by measuring plasma glucose (blood sugar). Treatment is diet, exercise, and drugs that reduce glucose levels, including insulin and oral antihyperglycemic drugs. Prognosis varies with degree of glucose control.

In the US, about 90% of diabetics are type II and 10% are type I.

DIABETES SYMPTOMS
Frequent urination
Excessive thirst
Extreme hunger
Unusual weight loss
Increased fatigue
Irritability

You can go to a doctor. You may want to talk to the school nurse about it or bring it up with your parents.
You would know you have diabetes since you would be come very ill.

You'll definitely want to talk with your parents or guardian about this one. Odd are, you aren't diabetic, but talk with your parents to be sure. Common symptoms of diabetes include excessive thirst, excessive hunger, excessive urination, fatigue, weight loss, and a fruity smell to breath.
